ABOUT US

What We Believe

The Wesleyan Church derives its name from John Wesley, an Anglican minister from the 16th century.  God used him to begin a movement that has continued for 300 years, known as Methodism.  We emphasize a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, trusting by faith in His death and resurrection for freedom from sin.  We believe there is eternal life in store for all those who have placed their trust in Christ.  We also believe Christians are called to lives of purity that mirror the example of Jesus Christ.  This is only possible by the power of God through His Spirit.  We are to be an influence in our community, both physically and spiritually.  We believe the Bible is God's word and, as such, our guide to how we should live.

Our Mission

God desires to transform the lives of every person He has created, because we are all subject to the curse of sin.  He changes individuals into the image of Jesus and this leads to the transformation of churches, communities, and society.  He does this through the powerful work of His Holy Spirit in us.  As we reflect the image of Jesus, we seek to follow the two greatest commandments: to love God and to love others.

Experiences

In order to fulfill our mission, there are certain experiences God wants all people to have.  These are how He works in us to transform us and make us more like Jesus.

Conversion: Repentance of sin and desire to lead a new life.

Separation: Leaving the mindset of our old selves.

Sanctification: God's work to replace our sinful nature with His.

Burden: Seeing the needs of those aroung us as Jesus does.

Ministry: Reaching our to share God's love.

Spiritual Growth Opportunities

In order to experience these areas of transformation, we believe the church should provide certain opporunities for us to grow to be more like Jesus.  We should engage in these together with other believers.  At Hudson Wesleyan, we utilize prayer, education, and community, surrounding an atmosphere of worship, to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
